COLUMBUS, Ohio, May 11, 2011 – American Electric Power (NYSE: AEP) is seeking offers for the supply of eastern coal, delivered by rail, barge or truck, to one or more of its generating stations.

AEP is seeking coal delivery proposals for up to 50,000 tons of coal per month including: spot CSX rail coal beginning as early as June 2011 and ending in December 2011 and term CSX coal beginning in July 2011 with deliveries through June 2012; spot NS coal beginning as early as June 2011 and ending in December 2011 and term NS rail coal beginning in July 2011 through June 2014; spot truck coal beginning as early as January 2012 and ending in December 2013; and CSX rail or barge coal beginning as early as January 2012 and ending in December 2012. AEP is open to alternative pricing structures or other innovative, value-added concepts. Proposals with alternative terms will be accepted. Accepted bids will be at AEP’s discretion.
