ASHLAND, Ky., Sept. 4, 2026 – Kentucky Power is monitoring the potential for severe thunderstorms across its service area this afternoon and evening and is prepared to respond if storms cause power outages.
Current forecasts indicate scattered severe thunderstorms are possible, with damaging winds, heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding among the potential hazards. Additional storms are possible on Saturday.
“Severe weather can bring down trees and limbs and damage power lines and equipment,” said Michelle Ross, vice president of operations. “Our crews are prepared to respond, and we encourage customers to stay weather aware and use caution around any downed lines.”
Customers should always assume downed power lines are energized and dangerous. Stay away and report them immediately.
