NEWS MEDIA ADVISORY
Kentucky Power presents the 7th Annual Power Up the Pantry food drive and fundraiser at four locations across eastern Kentucky.
Area businesses, organizations and individuals are encouraged to drop off donations throughout the day to help replenish area food pantry supplies.
All donations directly benefit God’s Pantry Food Bank, serving food pantries in southeast Kentucky, including Hazard, Pikeville and Prestonsburg; and Facing Hunger Food Bank, which serves food pantries in northeast Kentucky, including the greater Ashland area and surrounding counties.
WYMT in Hazard, Community Trust Bank and UK King’s Daughters have graciously partnered with Kentucky Power this year to collect donations and to help spread the word about this important event.
“Power Up the Pantry has always been about what we can accomplish when we come together for our communities,” said event organizer and Kentucky Power external affairs manager, Ryan Lake. “We’re incredibly grateful for the partnerships that have strengthened this effort this year and for everyone who continues to show up for their neighbors. Every donation helps our local pantries put food on the table for families across eastern Kentucky.”
This event is an opportunity to bring our communities together to help replenish depleted food supplies at our local pantries that work hard every day to respond to high rates of food insecurity in the region.
