The Power of Service Serving our communities goes beyond delivering reliable electric service. Throughout the month of July, Kentucky Power employees dedicated their time and talents to volunteer projects across eastern Kentucky as part of AEP's inaugural 'Week of Service' initiative.

By partnering with local organizations, employees supported efforts that address everyday community needs while helping strengthen the places they call home.

In Ashland, employees spent two days painting the interior of a new recovery center being developed by Hillcrest-Bruce Mission. Scheduled to open in October, the facility will provide additional support and resources for individuals on their recovery journey.

Employees also joined Facing Hunger Food Bank volunteers to support hunger relief efforts. They packed food boxes for distribution throughout the region and assisted with a mobile food pantry in Greenup County, where more than 150 vehicles came through to receive food assistance. The event helped connect hundreds of local families with needed resources.

In Pikeville, employees combined volunteer service with a $25,000 Kentucky Power Foundation grant awarded to WestCare for renovations at the Perry Cline Emergency Shelter. Employees spent the day leveling and refinishing the shelter's laundry room floor, helping make the space fully functional for residents and staff.

“Giving back through volunteerism and community service is always a priority for Kentucky Power and our employees,” said Ryan Lake, external affairs manager. “It’s important to our employees to be able to work together to make a meaningful difference for organizations that do so much for others in our communities.”
