The External Affairs team is meeting with community leaders and stakeholders across eastern Kentucky to discuss the important role utilities play in supporting economic growth and regional development. These discussions help build a greater understanding of how Kentucky Power supports growth while protecting customers.

Kentucky Power employees made a ‘Week of Service’ into a month of service this summer, volunteering across our service area in July with organizations making a difference across eastern Kentucky. From packing food boxes and preparing a recovery center to improving emergency shelter facilities, team members contributed their time and talents where they could make an impact. 

Kentucky Power and Appalachian Power representatives plan upgrades to the electric transmission system in Lawrence and Johnson counties, Kentucky and Wayne County, West Virginia. The project team is hosting an in-person open house to share the proposed project with the community.

Today, Kentucky Power signed the White House Ratepayer Protection Pledge, reaffirming our commitment to Powering Fairness by protecting existing customers while supporting responsible economic growth.

For 45 years, Phillip Hicks has built a career at Kentucky Power working through difficult terrain and all kinds of weather as a distribution line crew supervisor. Now, at 65 years old, he is preparing for one of the world’s toughest bike races after surviving a devastating hit-and-run accident.
